Pro Bono Fellowships
Where the idea comes from
Law firms run multi-year Pro Bono Fellowships so lawyers can dedicate themselves to public interest work without taking a financial hit.
The same idea works beyond law. It suits technology, program design, partnerships, fundraising and the other disciplines a project like the Global Refugee Network needs.
How a Fellowship works
- Two years
- Each Fellowship runs for two years: long enough for a Fellow to learn the context, build relationships and finish what they start.
- Nominated and matched
- OPC nominates and accepts each Fellow, and a philanthropic supporter funds the Fellowship. We acknowledge the supporter publicly, here and on the Fellow's profile.
- Chosen for fit
- Fellows are chosen for fit, never just availability. The person doing the work is senior, experienced and committed to the mission for its own sake.
Current Fellows
We are also talking with prospective Fellows whose Fellowships are not yet confirmed, and will add them here as they come on board.

John Cameron
Supported by The Cameron Foundation
Has worked pro bono on OPC since the project's earliest days.

Caroline Ritchie
Supported by The Cameron Foundation
Has contributed pro bono across the same period, with deep involvement in Talent Catalog.

Andrew Walsh
Self-funded contribution
Has worked pro bono on OPC since the project's earliest days, focused on leading OPC from startup to sustainability.
Part-funded contributions
We are grateful to those who give part of their time to the cause.

Sadat Malik
Partly self-funded contribution
Has contributed senior engineering leadership partly pro bono since OPC's earliest days.
A pro bono board
Every member of the OPC board serves pro bono. They give their time because they believe in the mission.
We say so because it matters. The people closest to this organisation pay their own way to be here, and we want our supporters and partners to know it.
Support a Fellowship
A high-impact way to contribute to a problem that matters.
If you or your foundation would like to support a Pro Bono Fellow, we'd love to talk. Your support funds a specific person doing specific work for two years.
We name you publicly as the Fellowship's supporter, on this page and on the Fellow's profile, and we're happy to discuss other forms of recognition.
