Open Pathway Collective to bring scaled technology solutions to humanitarian needs

AnnouncementBy Andrew Walsh

Highlights:

  • Providing world-class technology solutions dedicated to the unique needs of displaced populations
  • Addressing the digital disconnect of siloed data and repetitive entry that currently hinders global efforts
  • A leadership team combining a decade of humanitarian impact with scaled, commercial software expertise

Open Pathway Collective (OPC), a non-profit software engineering organisation and registered Australian charity, officially launches today to provide important technology and connectivity missing from the global refugee response.

The launch of OPC is driven by a leadership team that uniquely bridges commercial software development and a decade of humanitarian impact. Led by CEO Andrew Walsh, CTO John Cameron, and Director of Engineering Sadat Malik, the team includes the engineering team behind the open-source Talent Catalog (TC) software.

By establishing a dedicated software engineering organisation to build upon mature and proven software bases, the team will focus on the entire refugee sector. This move brings a focus of sustainable technical rigour to the complex challenges of displaced populations, ensuring that humanitarian tech can access cutting-edge and world-class solutions that are engineered and professionally maintained for the benefit of the entire humanitarian sector.

OPC was created to solve the digital disconnect currently hindering humanitarian efforts, where siloed case management and repetitive data entry lead to massive inefficiencies and beneficiary fatigue or worse, missed opportunities.

“The escalating global refugee crisis requires scalable and sustainable technological solutions that move beyond fragmented systems,” said Andrew Walsh, CEO of Open Pathway Collective. “By specialising in the supporting software systems, we allow our humanitarian partners to focus on their direct impact on the ground. Our goal is to provide the digital infrastructure that drives efficiency across the entire ecosystem, ensuring no refugee falls through the cracks due to a lack of access.”

The key strategic pillars for OPC to scale impact are: scalable open-source software; comprehensive connectivity; refugee agency; and strategic integrations.
