For settlement services
Settlement and case-management organisations use the Global Refugee Network (GRN) to plan support before refugees arrive, connect them to employment, training and other services, and stay connected after they settle. Every step depends on the refugee's consent.
What you can do with GRN
- Plan before people arrive
- See the skills, qualifications and goals of the people you will support before they land, so housing, training and job introductions can be arranged in advance.
- Connect people to other services
- Find the employment, training, language and migration services listed on GRN, and connect each person to the ones they need, with their consent.
- Stay connected after settlement
- People keep their profiles after they arrive, so they stay visible to services that help them move from a first job into work that matches their skills.
- Plan services from shared data
- Data from across the network helps you design services around the needs of each person and of the wider refugee population.
Joining as an institutional partner
Settlement providers, case-management organisations, governments and public bodies join as institutional partners. Because you can receive wider profiles, including sensitive information, we ask for more: your legal mandate or government contract, an independent security audit or certification, and approval by the GRN governance board. You renew every 12 months and pay a software licence.
Questions settlement services ask
- How can settlement services use the Global Refugee Network?
- Settlement and case-management organisations join GRN as institutional partners. With each refugee’s consent, they can see the person’s skills, qualifications and goals before arrival, connect them to employment, training and other services on the network, and stay connected after settlement.
- Does GRN replace our case-management system?
- No. GRN does not deliver services or replace the systems you use to deliver them. It is shared infrastructure that helps the organisations around each refugee find and support them.
- We hold a government settlement contract. Is joining simpler?
- Yes. Providers contracted by a government, such as Australia’s Humanitarian Settlement Program, can join as institutional partners on the strength of the contract.
- Does it cost anything to use GRN?
- Partners pay a software licence. Open Pathway Collective shares the cost of maintaining GRN fairly across the organisations that use it. Refugees never pay.
- Do refugees pay for anything on GRN?
- No. Refugees register for free, and partners may never charge them for access to GRN or for a referral through it.
